Mushrooms are for everyone— including celebs. Many of which have opened up recently about their relationship with shrooms and psychedelics, how they’re working, and what they think about legalization. That said, we’re about to spill the tea on how some of your favorite celebs are doing it. Whether you’re here for the laughs, the lessons, or just to satisfy your curiosity, stick around. We’ve got the juicy details on how these psychedelic superstars are turning their journeys into pure magic.

#1 Post Malone
Posty is always saying something completely unhinged, but this one is a good one. In a recent interview with Alex Cooper on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Malone said that he writes his best lyrics on shrooms and on the toilet. “Sometimes I’ll bring a guitar in there,” he said, adding that “all the best lyrics are written on the s****er. One hundred percent.”
In the same breath, he went on to describe his diet and that oftentimes he’d ingest magic mushrooms and beer and nothing else for a few days, leading to a serious case of log jam and profound lyricism. “I lost like 10 pounds from this one trip,” he recounted.
However, Malone also acknowledges the long-term effects of his psychedelic use. In an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, he admitted that he doesn’t remember things very clearly these days. “Maybe it was just a stint of habitual overuse. Daily. But now I take a little bar of chocolate with my buddies, a little square chocolate, and just laugh and laugh and laugh,” he shared.
Even if Austin has slowed down his personal use of shrooms, he’s a huge advocate. Some of his friends have used it for PTSD, and he believes shrooms offer a more positive result than traditional drugs. “It’s cool to see that they’re giving them this medicine, and it’s actually working,” he said, reflecting on a conversation with a friend who benefited from psychedelic therapy.
Despite his past struggles with substances and the physical toll of his creative habits, Malone remains optimistic about the future, both as an artist and as a father.

#2 Harry Styles
If you were a 2010s girlie, Harry Styles was IT. After One Direction broke up in 2016, he went on to pursue a very successful solo career of his own and credits shrooms to part of his creative process.
Often described as eclectic, his music stems from some of the experiences he’s had with shrooms. While recording his second album at Malibu’s Shangri-La studios, Styles indulged in psilocybin to spark his creativity. “We’d do mushrooms, lie down on the grass, and listen to Paul McCartney’s ‘Ram’ in the sunshine,” he told Rolling Stone. “We’d just turn the speakers into the yard.”
However, not all of his psychedelic adventures went smoothly. Styles recounted an incident where he bit off the tip of his tongue after eating some mushroom chocolates. “I was trying to sing with all this blood gushing out of my mouth,” he recalled. Despite the mishap, the experience was ultimately positive. “So many fond memories, this place.”

#3 Seth Rogen
Similar names, but no relation to Joe—Seth Rogen is one of the few celebrities who has a lot of really funny drug stories. They’re referenced almost all the time in his movies, like Pineapple Express and The Night Before.
In an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, Rogen recounted his spontaneous trip to Paris. He and a friend split 60g of shrooms with plans to just sit outside and have a picnic but ended up tripping ass and getting train tickets to Paris. “I remember thinking, ‘I took so many drugs I ended up in another country.'”
Beyond the humor, Rogen finds magic mushrooms to be profoundly introspective. In a 2015 interview with Vulture, he described them as “a very insightful drug – very introspective.” These experiences have influenced his life and work, leading him to make significant decisions, like quitting a job the day after a shroom trip, which helped him realize the work wasn’t going to be good for him.
Although Rogen doesn’t use psychedelics as much these days, he’s a regular tripper and a cannabis entrepreneur, often weaving his psychedelic experiences into his creative projects. His candidness about ego death and the life-changing moments brought on by psilocybin offers a very honest perspective on the benefits and insights gained from these substances.

#4 Aaron Rodgers
If you’re a Packers fan, you’re familiar with Aaron Rodgers, but you might not know that he credits a lot of his career wins and personal victories to psychedelics. Speaking at Psychedelic Science 2023 in Denver, Rodgers shared just how transformative using both psilocybin and ayahuasca has been. “Ayahuasca – 48 touchdowns, five interceptions, MVP. What are you gonna say?”
Beyond the numbers, Rodgers has often spoken about how psychedelics have helped him alleviate his fear of death and foster a deeper sense of self-love. He mentioned that despite facing backlash from fans and the NFL, the benefits have been undeniable. “It’s going to be hard to cancel me,” he remarked.
But there’s a lot more to it than that. He believes in the broader societal benefits of psychedelics. Speaking to podcast host Aubrey Marcus, Rodgers expressed his frustration with the legal status of these substances: “Is it not ironic that the things that actually expand your mind are illegal and the things that keep you in the lower chakras and dumb you down have been legal for centuries?”
His openness has inspired many, including other athletes who have reached out for guidance. Rodgers shared that the response from the sports industry has been overwhelmingly positive, with athletes from various disciplines seeking to learn from his experiences. “To see basketball players and baseball players and surfers, entertainers and my own teammates and colleagues across the league reach out…was pretty special,” he said.

#5 Mike Tyson
Once known for his ferocity in the ring and tumultuous personal life, “Iron Mike” Tyson has found a new lease on life through psychedelics. He’s spoken pretty candidly over the years about how shrooms saved him from his inner demons— including an in-depth discussion with Joe Rogan. (Joe Rogan Experience #1227). Funny how birds of a feather flock together sometimes.
Anyway, Tyson recalls his infamous 1997 fight against Evander Holyfield. “Everyone thought I was crazy, I bit this guy’s ear off… I did all this stuff, and once I got introduced to the shrooms … my whole life changed.”
During an interview with Reuters, he shared, “To think where I was—almost suicidal—to this now. Isn’t life a trip, man? It’s amazing medicine, and people don’t look at it from that perspective.”
But words are one thing, and actions are another. In an episode of the podcast “Impaulsive,” Tyson ate four grams of magic mushrooms on air. That’s a pretty heroic dose. But his point was to showcase his belief in the power they hold.
He told the hosts, “Mushrooms make you pretty objective, they make you objective to what’s really going on. Mushrooms really tell you that you’re nothing.”
Tyson is now a cannabis entrepreneur and a vocal advocate for the therapeutic benefits of psychedelics. He recently partnered with Wesana Health, a company dedicated to studying psilocybin’s potential to treat traumatic brain injury (TBI) and other conditions, to get the word out.

#6 Joe Rogan
Whether you love him or love to hate him, Joe Rogan is a huge advocate for shrooms. The comedian, podcast host and UFC commentator meets with people on his show constantly and seems to somehow always end up on the topic of psychedelics. He’s had intense discussions with people like mycologist Paul Stamets (#1035)— who you might remember from the Fantastic Fungi documentary— and author Michael Pollan (#1121), author of How To Change Your Mind.
Joe doesn’t just play the interviewer, though. He loves sharing his own personal experiences, especially with his good friend Duncan Trussell, who is another major advocate for psychedelics. You probably recognize him from The Midnight Gospel if you’re into trippy visuals. But In the shows Trussell and Rogan do together, they share some down-to-earth wisdom but also tackle crazy hypotheticals.
Rogan’s also pretty serious about the potential benefits of psychedelics. In his episode with Dennis McKenna (#1133), they talk about how substances like DMT and psilocybin could revolutionize mental health treatment.
One of Joe’s standout quotes is, “If you ever start taking things too seriously, just remember that we are talking monkeys on an organic spaceship flying through the universe.”
If you’re looking for a cool, candid take on mushrooms, listen to what Joe Rogan has to say.
